Default Am I being impatient?

I've got my motor at DHP to figure out why it's low on power. Yesterday was three weeks that it's been there and from what I gather all they've done is change the waterpump. Everytime I talk to them they talk about needing to put it in the water and run it. I know this time of year is busy, but I would have expected more to be done. A guy I work with had water getting in his lower unit so he took his there last week and got it back the next day. Is this wait time legitimate or am I being antsy? I'm going to talk to them Monday if they don't call me and see if I can see where it stands.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who would be upset with the delay. I didn't know they were closed Monday.

Well I talked to them today. The guy I talked to said he ran it in the lake Friday. He said he didn't think anything was wrong with it. I told him I thought it should run faster than 26/27 mph. He said he didn't have a gps with him, but he thought it was going faster than that. I'm picking it up Wednesday.

I had a 30 yamaha on it before the suzuki and it was twice the motor I have now. I should have kept it, but you know what they say about hindsight.

If the 25 Suzuki is in fact stock tuned correctly for maximum performance, the next factor is the motor set-up on the boat for maximum performance.

I can vouch for the 25 Suzuki. I have a stock 25 Suzuki on a 16 x 48 alweld. This hull is rated for a 40 hp max. With me, full fuel tank, 6" aluminum jack plate, aluminum floor with Styrofoam fillers, two batteries(front of boat), various items under the front deck and trolling motor(front deck), I average(depending on weather conditions) 26 to 29 mph on a hand held GPS. My 25 Suzuki is set-up to maximize its performance for the hull its on.
I disagree that the 30 Yamaha is twice the motor.

I don't think a 30 yamaha should perform better than a suzuki 25, but my suzuki doesn't come close the the yamaha I had. The guy at DHP didn't run mine with a gps so I don't see how he can say my motor is running fine, but when I run it I get 26/27 mph at 4500 rpm with a 14 pitch prop. For the time being I'm going to run it so I can fish some, then look into it some more.

All you guys with suzuki's I appreciate y'all posting y'alls speeds. That confirms to me that my motor is sick. I just can't afford to keep taking it to different mechanics.

Mine is a 1999(new version) model 3 cylinder. My prop is a stainless 10 1/8 X 14 with a slight progressive cup on the end of each blade. I use to have the prop aerated but have since filled in the aeration holes due to my motor set-up.
