If I were you I would run it with a tach to check the rpm's. Then get the prop to us and let our prop guy work his magic.

Those three-cylinder's are awesome motors. The 30 yamaha I had with the modified reed plate had an unbelievable hole shot.

yea i am gonna go this week and get another tach if i can stay out the marsh to go get one, its real tempting now that 40hp is allowed in the pool to get one and sell this but i have had it since new and the motor is great mr. larry went through it and said he hadnt seen one that clean in along time especially for the age

Just kidding. He has a very clean boat and very clean running and looking motor. If he ever would sell it somebody would get a nice setup.

He is turning a 15 pitch 4 blade 6,000 rpms right at 50mph. I can get his contact number tomorrow if anyone is interested. Boating Talk: Super fast merc 40 - SaltyCajun.com
one of my favorite motors from the past was (40 yamaha) built by richard, but i think the guy i sold it to liked his 3 cyl 25 better

Your boat does run better, when it has gas. Lol. I was VERY impressed on how it ran in the shallow water of Lacafish. I don't think many motors could've handled what yours did. Too bad they don't make the three cylinder Yamaha 25 anymore.

I bought a 3cyl 25 on Monday. Runs very well I am running it on my Go Devil boat and it moves on out considering how heavy it is.
