Nothing wrong with putting the MAX H.P...but do you really need it... One question 80-90% of 24' bay boat are rated for a 300H.P. motor....how many do you see with a 300H.P. on the back (10%-20%)?????? Most have 225H.P. or 250H.P. To me if the motor can run at least 50mph and get out of the hole quick with a load then good enough for me...but to each his own. I my case I went with a 150 4 stroke over a 200 HPDI....the HPDI was 6 mph faster...but running at 40mph the gas mileage was basically the same....and I wanted a 4 stroke.
