He stays in a 7X7' kennel while im at work and when he goes outside to poop or piss, he's on the lead. This is to keep him by me and for me to work with him on sitting and healing. Its a work in progress, but i dont leave him on the lead 24/7. He is 5 months 2 days ago and we brought him to the vet the other day and he was 47.6 lbs.....

Edit: he is a good minding dog, but he's stubborn sometimes. He was on the lead to get him used to being "attached to something" (I.E, a leash, etc)...

When do I get the shock collar ?? He's getting into his "dumb" stage and wants to "ignore" me when i call him to come in the house.

Welcome to the wonderful world of labs -especially chocolate males!!!!!! LMAO! They all go thru this and glad to hear you got him a kennel set up. At this stage, I would stick to the "heal", "sit", "stay" training and getting his social life in order. You would be amazed how having him "crate" trained will help in the long run so I would work on that also right now.

They have a bunch of guys on this site that are a lot better than me for training dogs! Raymond, Ducktrictser, Duckaholic just to name a few! So I am sure you will have plenty of guys to go to for help. Also, LC has a great HRC club, and I strongly suggest you join. Even if you do not plan on running HRC, that is how I got my start on training dogs years ago. The days when guys get together and help each other are the best! I much rather that than the actual trials!

Hope this helps buddy and good luck with Drake! By the way, I still have one male and one female if you know someone looking!
