Default Dead Feeder!!!

Went check on my lease last weekend and found my deer feeder destroyed!!! Apparently it ran out of corn and somthing wasnt too happy about that. Broke into the box and ripped out the battery, timer, and most of the wireing. Motor and box were a little beat up as well. Cleaned up and repaired and everything still works. Just gotta fit the door back on now (latch it broken off). Figured it may have been a coon but there were also deer tracks underneath. Anyone else had this happen?

We have A LOT of feeders out on our lease and I've never seen or heard of that happening. Sounds like somebody wasn't happy that you were feeding maybe?

That was my first impression but seems like they would have stole it or beat it up a little worse than that. The box wasnt locked so you could easily open it up. This thing looks like it was forced open. Theres claw or scrape marks all over it. Had a camera out but the batteries ran dead a long time ago and I didnt replace them at the end of the season. That was still there and untouched.

Was the feeder knocked down or was it still standing? If it was knocked down, it was probably hogs, I've heard of them banging up some feeders pretty bad.

Yea, it was still standing. I guess I will fill it back up and re-set my camera. Might change to box to a tougher one.

we had coons tearin ours up bad in west texas, they have destroyed a few beyond repair so we started buildin cages that we screw on the bottom of barrel to protect feeder.
guy i work with said he was havin the problem so he mixed crisco and red pepper and coated the legs of feeder and put out a video camra and got some funny pics of coons slidin down the legs and then gettin red pepper on their face, needless to say they kinda leave him alone now

we made our cages out of heavy chicken wire or what you use for crab traps, corn will go through and if you make it about the size of the bottom of feeder coons cant reach to get ahold of feeder, we put a trap door with latch to service

I'm sticking to my theory...that damn sasquatch. When you go to hunt him down, tie a virgin to a tree and ring the bell.

had hogs knock over one of mine and completely destroyed it the barrel was plastic and they tore it up like it was nothing. Had to buy a new one and drove pieces of rebar in the ground and wired the legs to it so they wouldn't knock it over.
