Default Cheap off shore setup

Guys looking for a cheap rod and reel setup. I may go off shore 1-2 times in the next 10 yrs. Any suggestions?

Academy had combo bottom fishing rigs for around or maybe even under $100. Penn reel and rod combo.

Buy a $90-120 reel and a cheap rod... just my .02. I bought a$100 Penn combo and the reel broke on the 4th trip

Shimano has some reels that seem pretty nice that are around 150ish i think, im looking at picking something up myself incase i ever run with someone for a snapper trip, but im like you i wont use it maybe 5-10 times a year

This is what I got. Rigged out wit 4 tekotas. 2 800's 1 700 and a small one for ling. Got the small one on a long ugly stick. Two on shimano Taurus. Those are some sweet rigs.

I can't remember. It's been about 5 years since I got mines. I've used em alot and they are still in very good shape. They were reasonable in price also.
