Default Sabine 7/20 . . .

It started off alright with 5 reds, 2 slots, and then the fishing went nuts. The only problem was size. Of the 40+ trout caught only 1 TX keeper. probably had 15 LA keepers. Bait was everywhere, we just couldn't find the size. Will have to reload and go again. Fished LA side, TTF products . . .

You have to weed through the pickles to find the keepers. Thanks for the report.

Good job thanks for the report. I found the trout at Sabine on a TTF flats minnow in tx roach or a Hackberry Hustler in opening nite. When the bait is thick try topwater , she dogs and spook jr .
Hope this helps ,and good luck.

The trout were chasing what I think is Ballyhoo (they looked like small needle-nose gar about 5-7 inches long, green backs white bellies). About 10 minutes before the action died, my buddy was reeling his bait back fast and got 2 bites before landing our only keeper red. We may have stumbled on the right technique. Headed to Academy . . . Can anyone suggest another bait that matches the hatch?

we caught all our fish on small popping topwaters last sunday.. chrome with a blue back. baby chug bug or 2 1/2" pop-r.. looks just like the shad theyre feeding on. i also caught 2 fish on 2 casts with the F07s original rapala, but i put it down cause i wanted to see the strike!

You may try Catch 2000's or even the trusty old Rattle Traps. I had good luck with the She Dog in black with Chartruse head . Just dont be afraid to try different things . I caught trout on three diff color plastics and two diff color topwaters and never moved from that spot.

I still like catching little trout than nothing at all, especially when you have some nice reds in the box!
