PFFFFTTT! Most techs couldn't read a Dr. Seuss book, let alone a film! Gotta love the way they think so highly of themselves though!

Kwak, stick with it. If ya don't mind travelin, there's a lot of money in industrial construction. If you really wanna wow a group that you go to work for, take your weld test and show up for work. They aren't gonna know you so, they aren't gonna turn ya loose on much of a weld. They'll have ya doin BS work. Just keep your mouth shut and go do it, without complaint to anyone. They notice that! That moves a lot of bosses in ways you don't know. Do your time and they'll start to pair you up with some guys that'll show ya what ya need to know. I waited for over 2 years to weld with a guy that I had always wanted to weld with! Keep in mind, I'd spent at least 6 yrs traveling the world as a welder, at that point.

Good luck!

I went through an experience with xray testing on some high crome pipe some years back on a turnaround. Job was to cut out small drain pipes [on 8 heater passes] and weld in a patch.

We must have used 8+ different Alloy welders and then changed the job to cutting out a small section of the 8" pipe and rewelding it in. We must had called the xray crews out 12+ times on that one job.

And don't ask what happen on the day they sent out a smoken hot chick to take the exrays and why they were told not to send her back.
