Default Prien 8/30/11

It was on again today had my limit in an hour and a half. Got there at 9 and was on trailer by 10:30. Tide wasnt as strong as yesterday but the trout were still there. Never even plugged in the trolling motor. Pulled up set anchor and fished. I caught them on norton sand eels in midnight and pink with gold flake. Nothing large enough to brag about all were 13 to 16 inches. The fish were under the schools of mullet. I bet i spent more time taking fish off than fishing it took at least 5 fish to put 1 in the ice chest. It was too hot went home instead of going for the flounder. I talked to a guy loading his boat who had his limit of trout and flounder. He was in 10ft of water throwng at the bank for flounder and to the channel for specks. He used gulp. Oh by the way whats with the jerks who will pass with in 25 yrds of you with the motor running. I might have to start keeping water balloons in the ice chest for a**holes like that. I took pics of them but decided not to post them so eveyone doesnt find out my spot.

You do....I use to see people fishing that spot and use to think they were just rookies drowning shrimp. Last week I worked that point and hammered them. I use to never set anchor just use trolling motor. Now I pullup and anchor... lol

I have a clue where you are talking about lets just say that much.... been fishing prien for years and years soo there are a few i can rule out this time of year. My trolling motor went out that day and we had to anchor up. best part about it is... catch flounder and reds near the shore. specs in the channel.

Yesterday made a second trip after son got out of school. The reds were blowing up the mullet in the middle of the channel. We had to chase it with the trolling motor to keep from spooling his line. It made a final run under the boat and popped his line. He lost it cuz he didnt check his line from the lady fish. During the chase we went through the school and messed things up. We only caught 3 specs and a red. The rising tide was weak.

Just let me know when you can. Next week I well be in your neck of the woods at the lease. The week of the 23rd I will be dove hunting in kingsville tx. Mid October is deer hunting. I can go any day the rest of the week after 4pm. Prien gets better in the fall. Also hows Vernon been? I havent been back there the fishing here has been too good here to go any where else.

South Fork Hunting Club. Its just south of Deridder on South Menonite Rd. past Granger Rd. where Menonite turns into Betrand Ln. We have about 6900 acres. Over the yrs we had a 3rd and 5th place in Simmons Big Buck Contest. Turkey hunting is some of the best around most members who hunt tag out on Turkeys. Hogs are like any where else too many they wont go to a trap and go nocternal once they are hunted.

I saw you out there, wasn't that fun. I just did C&R, my freezer is full.
Caught mine on H&H cocahoes clear with gold glitter (Laguna Gold).
Some folks think that the only way that they can catch is to troll and they don't mind passing pretty close. Don't let them steal your joy, there are plenty of fish.

Did you see how close that old man trolling in that alumnum boat with the suzuki 25 came to me. He was the one the tug boat had to honk at. He never even looked at me. I was standing there looking at him like wdf are you doing. I am going to mount a water balloon sling shot on my boat for them. That ought to get them to keep some distance.
