Default Verizon update

I made the switch from Sprint a few months back and I am still pretty happy with sevice. Last weekend at Toledo Bend I had no problem with service and I am currently sitting in my camp in West Texas and have been able to make calls and now able to get on SaltyCajun, just thought I would give alittle update on coverage.

Did you have problems with Sprint in both of those areas? How is the service in Big Lake and down at the beach?

Sprint does well in lower Cameron Parish.
They bought out the Mercury Cellular service which was owned by Cameron Communications.

Sprint has good coverage in SW La., but the cell service sucks. Too many dropped calls and scratchy calls.
I have never had a drop call on a cell phone since 1990.
When I went to Sprint 2 years ago, it's what they are known for. In my opinion.
When it was Mercury Cellular then US Unwired, it was great.
When Sprint bought them out, it went downhill from there.
I switched to Centennial after Sprint bought out US Unwired.
The cell service with Centennial was good, but they had very limited coverage area and very poor customer service.
After Rita, Sprint was the only cell service that was reliable in lower Cameron Parish, and I spent every day off down there for 2 years. Had to go back to Sprint if I wanted cell service.
I am thinking about trying Verizon next, but not unless they give me a phone to test out down there. If not, I will find someone who will.

I am in Johnson Bayou and have 3G until I get almost to Holly Beach then get it again at Hackberry. I still have service between JB and Hackberry just not 3G. This is with Verizon.

Thanks for the update. Went to ICY yesterday to visit some shrimp boats. Full service 3G on Verizon, one bar E on ATT. Showed one of guys that owned dock who had ATT and he said he was switching. Said he had to keep phone by window to get reception in office. Martin Beach few weeks ago: full service E ATT, one bar E Verizon. Gonna test it out in my blind in PI this weekend and deer camp Oct 1st then make my decision on which to stick with.
