Default Boat Registration Question

About three years ago my dad signed over his title (ihe lived in South Carolina) on his flat boat to me. He didn't do a bill of sale. I never registered the boat here in Louisiana because I was trying to get his trailer registered first and that was a major pain because South Carolina was not a state that titles trailers.

Anyway, my dad passed away last October. There is a form on the Louisiana Deptment of Wildlife where all the heirs can sign off and say the boat is yours, I just have to include a death certificate of my mom and dad.

I was getting ready to send this form to my two brothers, one in Georgia, and the other in South Carolina when I found the boat title again with my name on it. Will the Dept of Fish and Wildlife register the boat in my name with just my father's signature on the title or do I need a Bill of Sale or Act of Donation to go with the signed title? Of course, I can't get a Bill of Sale or Act of Donation as he has passed. Anybody have any insight or experience with this?

Thanks.

Sounds like you have everything you need, you could always run it by a notary and let them handle it for you.

I use a small private title place in Moss Bluff for all paper work like that and they help a lot, not sure if Kinder has one but you may check.

Dealing with guvment agencies can be a pain, it has been my experience that if you feed them a line of **** they will comply with your request.
