Deep water and heavy current calls for long heavy chain, 6-8ft. at least! the chain is more important than the anchor itself. You can get away with 4-6 ft, but double the chain (two lengths of 4-6ft. side by side if all you have is a lighter chain! its the weight that keeps the anchor from pulling off the bottom. I use a danforth 20-26ft. series, and it does really good, but I also have 6 ft. of heavy chain. Its the biggest series that would fit in my anchor locker on my bayboat. good luck with it!
