What is the best mileage you fellas can get out of a 5.9? I have been thinking of going diesel, just not sure if I should.

when mine had stock tires I would get 17ish in and around town and 19-21 on interstate and that was figured with pen and paper. I loved my truck but got tired of the note and extra fuel cost so now I drive a paid for truck and just pay out the butt to keep gas in it

I had the old 165 HP Cummins diesel. I got 21 in town and 25 on the highway with a 253 rear end. It was just so dang loud and had a lot of vibration.

Don't believe the onboard mpg. Mine with 5" exhaust, cold air & programmer gets 19 around town & 24 on good interstate.
