Its well worth your money to bring it over to Jorgensens in Beaumont and have it downloaded... Talk to Pete, he's a staight shooter and let him know what your looking for...

I never had any problems with my engine, but took really good care of it and did every little maintenance item that was called out... If the engine your looking at hasnt had regular service at the DEALER you should run away... If the owner hasnt run Ring Free, you should run away...

Also, there is a check on the the oil pump for that year range (by s/n), they also go in and scope the cylinders out...

How many hours is on it ?

There is alot of difference in 200 to 300 hundred hours! Be careful, someone that had routine maintenace done on a engine will have a better guess of how many hours are on a motor.

A diagnostic is worth your time and money if you are serious about buying the rig. It will answer all of your questions.

You referenced buying an Xpress due to being in the river and the salinity being an issue. I am not sure the internal components of the Xpress line are any more suited for salt water than any other bass hull. It is the components that give you issues in salt water not the hull. That being said I have coworkers that us Xpress bass hulls in salt water and have only had minor issues. Wash it down good and you will be fine.

Good Luck!
