I think ill start 1 this year. It's pretty interesting, learning about the different patterns and weather condition, tides ,currents, cuts, lures etc. What's Yall take on keep a journal?

I did for six years fishing the bass tournaments.
I can tell you that if I did not have time to scout, I could refer to that journal and usually be "in the money" by the end of the day.

What I found was bass at least, are very predictable to time and place.

that being said Venice was a little different. In Venice you fished similar conditions and time and place was less important.

For the Blind River Tickfaw area, it was as predictable as the brides cycle.

Water temp needs to added to the journal entry and time the bite started.
Guides on freshwater lakes like Lake Fork and Toledo live by journals.

you just can't go wrong.
and I think there are some phones apps now to make it even easier.

I keep a photo album with date, place, lure, weather condition and tide level. pearl river is a place that is very predictable, Manchac pass area is very hit or miss but I've seen some good bass come out of manchac pass, better than any of the rivers in the area.

I used to keep one when I didn't fish as often as I do now. I just try to take mental notes now because I get tired of writing about every trip.
