WOW, have had one of these since they come out, they are awesome, the bracket does break, have busted two while in rough water. They are the cats meow!!!!

The HDS bracket on my off shore boat still in good shape the one on my CC 18ft bay boat takes a beating and the bracket doesn't stand a chance.

Pre-fab a replacement bracket from aluminum plating, problem solved.

I use HDS-5 for sonar exclusively and gps back up to my Garmin...Great combo for me.

I love mine, a HDS 7 on console and HDS 5 on bow.
