couldn't agree with you more, my nine year old got his first duck on the fly this year, and this past weekend he got two in one shot. I started early trying to teach my boys that it's not always about killing a limit but about the time spent outdoors. To this day, they (9&16) both say without hesitation, if we have a day where we don't kill many, it's ok at least we got a few, and that's what it's all about! I posted this picture already, but here is my boy with his first duck on the fly!
