I have been hunting Public Land since about the time you were born..... and my best is a 10 pt.

My Buck was killed in a similar situation. Earlier in the morning, I had seen a Buck stop and he stayed in one spot for a couple of minutes. I could not tell what the buck was doing. Late that morning I went over to look to see what he may have been looking at. There was not much brush in the area, and after several minutes walking around and not seeing anything I was about to leave.

Like any hunter, I always pause to look around..... just in case something is moving. There was a very big tree about 25 yard away, and I caught quick glimps of a buck walking in my direction on the other side of the tree. My rifle was shoulded in .1 seconds when the buck was behind the tree.....and I was ready. I waited,,,,,waited,,,,,waited...... but no deer. It felt like forever....and I was wondering if the buck had seen me [I was standing out in the open only ~35 yards away from him.]? Would I see a "flag" running off in the woods?

Then finally [maybe 20 seconds later] he steps out and I put a .243 cal cor-lock between his front shoulders and he drops.
