I would like that a lot more than sitting in a stand staring at the piney woods, and the highlight of the morning is a fox squirrel. But I really don't wanna buy a new rifle, is my .270 good enough?

Yes, it is good enough. But you need to practice and make your shot count and be ready to pump more than one in it.

My favorite is the elusive specklebelly. I have hunted pheasant before in Kansas and that was amazing spent a week hunting all day everyday. Just drive down the road, pick a nice looking field, and walk across it. Its a real rush when they dont jump until you step on them. I killed my first deer not long ago and I still dont see the excitement. yeah it was exciting when i killed but the moments before and after the kill all sucked its nothing but a pain in the arse and work. Killed my first, dont care to kill another.

Bow hunting whitetail and specklebellys are my favorite. Hard to beat the rush of the build up to waiting for that perfect shot with a bow and arrow! Takes some serious dedication,I saw 14 deer this year while bow hunting but none were in range. Hope I get to stick one before the season ends. Gotta love the sound too....twwaaaaaaack!

As far as favorite thing to hunt.....Turkey---- and Deer are a close second for me. If you would like to experience hearing a big Tom sound off at daylight and shake the leaves, I could probably do that for you. It would have to be on public land sometime in mid March. |

If you need some pointer on how to kill a good Longbeard, I would be glad to help you get that done. IMO....most of the fun of hunting Turkey is in the scouting and the "chase" before the kill. I will leave my gun at home....I just love getting on the Turkey, I don't have to kill one. Where is your lease? Is Deer season over.....no..... then why are we talking Turkey hunting??????? |

Coyotes. Never even hunted em before. But they are next on the death list. They have been going ruthless on the rabits behind the house. Other night, had a rabbit in pasture, sat and watched him, and next thing I know, 2 yotes come put of the woodline and Chase him.. next morning me and buddy went and made a quick woodduck hunt before school back there, while waiting for sunrise the yotes were giving a rabbit hell. Thing was squealing and hollerin like crazy.

That sounds good to me. I usually wait until March to do some scouting. Contact me then and we can make plans to go. |
