Default Random thoughts of buzzards

Year or so ago my uncle asked me why you never see buzzards around dog carcasses on the side of the road. I didn't really have much of an explanation because I never noticed it. I have since been taking notice and I have yet to see a dead dog on the side of the road with a buzzard nearby. I would like to hear your thoughts on this?

Might be right.

from the Turkey Vulture Society (seriously!):

Turkey vultures, contrary to popular assumption, do not eat absolutely anything placed in front of them. Predatory animals (and scavengers as well) typically feed on herbivorous animals. The flesh of an herbivore is much tastier.

In short, turkey vultures will often bypass carcasses of cats, dogs, and coyotes. They will, however, eat such carcasses in the absence of more desirable food.

Someone murdered 5 donkeys by our blind this season. One day I went looking for a cripple goose and I found them, all shot in the neck. Been dead long enough for them to be swole up. Not one bite taken from them by coyote or a buzzard. Thought it was weird.

My friend had 5 milk cows that mysteriously died in the marsh. No wounds.
They think it was lightening.
I took a picture and passed it around Cameron and said some cult was back
there and took all the hearts out of them. Shoulda heard all the talkin going
on around town after that...
