I work in the prot of Terrebonne and I am really suprised it's not required of us to have one.

McJaredSandwhich. An OSHA 40 is what you are looking to get.

You can search it online to see when a new class is starting.

You wont be thanking me when you have to sit through that class. Talk about boring. The only thing that made it nice was I was on the clock. Good luck on your job search

I got mine a few years ago, it took all day and about 3-4 months for it to come in. I would assume now it should not take as long. Also, I needed mine for work so my company paid for it. Suprised it did not go up in price.

Ive had mine so long it is a bout to expire

I was FSO for the offshore company I used to work for so I had to attend monthly meetings with the USCG. The TWIC thing has been going on since 2001. Lockheed and TSA kept dragging their feet and changing things to the point where after a while it all just seemed to be one big joke. In fact the program still isnt even close to being fully implemented. The "official" handheld readers that I saw a prototype of in 2004 still haven't come online yet. Right now it is just another government failure that eats up tax dollars and paychecks.

Jared, training and safety for plant work is what I do for a living. I will tell you up front do not waste your money on any training. If a company wants to hire you they will put you through all of the training you need once hired. It is very unlikely that you will get the job just because you already have safety council training. You will have to go back anyway for the plant specific training.

You will need a TWIC though. It takes about 6 weeks on average for your card to come in so employers do look for employees who already have that.

I can PM you my number or you can get it from Inchspinner if you wanna talk about some other things you can do to look good to plant contractors since you dont have experience.

The saftey council is a joke. Nothing but a money making raquet. The material hasn't changed in years. When it first started all the companies paid for it, just like nomex, now you are on your own. Every time a new requirment is put out the hand ends up paying.
