Sunday Slam!
Good day on the DU! A beautiful day to spend on the water! Where else would one want to be than on the DU slamming redfish and trout? Capt Gerald was busy with a film crew and catching some nice reds and trout! Jeff Aycock fished with me on Friday and wanted some more today. Fishing today with Jeff were Ben Wright,Mary Mercer Buquet, and Danny 'Songbird' Fitzgerald. Not much current today but it didn't stop this crew from filling the big igloo with fish. Ben had the first trout in the boat on his second cast and it was on!! Bunker swimbaits and LSU chubs did the trick on the reefs. Lots of boats chasing birds in Lake Mechant & Sister Lake but we stuck to the reefs catching larger fish. We found our fish in one spot and worked it hard. The fish were mixed with the mullets in 4-5 ft of water and we had to make them bite. We did just that!! 16 yr old Mary was the queen of the boat today as she was slinging in trout all morning and had a big red almost pull her off the boat. Called it a day just before noon and had a full box to show for our efforts! Great crew today as Jeff is a class act! Good luck fishing. Capt Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 |
