Default Toledo 4/1 - 4/3

Left for Toledo Sunday and got our lines in the water and baited by about 3 pm. We went back to check them at dark and had a nice mess of fish with two bigger fish going from 20 to 25 lbs. Ran them again the next morning and a few hooks we baited with live bream had big fish that twisted off, and we had another nice mess of catfish but nothing with any real size. After that morning, we had a big storm come in and pounded our area pretty good. After that it seemed to shut the fishing down from what it was. We were back home by 2 today. Total we caught about 50 catfish and about 60 sac a lait in between running lines.

All the catfish were caught on trot lines. Baited with a variety of chicken hearts, cut perch and live perch. I would say we caught the most on cut perch

Never used chicken hearts on a trot line, I've used em a lot on jugs in misere, seems like they'd work good on a line, nice and bloody. How'd you know it was a big one? Was there slime a long ways down the main line, that's how we can tell usually.

There was some slime on the line plus we baited with good size bream. The hearts work good on the trot line but we change them when we run it and put fresh ones on

You'd be surprised at how small of a catfish can and will eat a large live bream. One of the small 4lb blues we caught had one of our 4 inch long bream in its belly.
