Default Rough day. 5/19

Fished a little church tourney with my little girl this morning. Started off slow. Picked up a couple flounder and a couple small trout. She broke off on a nice red and a flounder. Moved to a reef and found some hungry redfish.

Ran further south and found a few small trout nothing worth keeping. Had 2 nice trout on top 3-4 lb? Threw the hook. Saw lots of boats in longpoint/washout area. Ran back to where we started and tried again. After pickin up a bunch of 25" reds on top the bite I was lookin for finally came. A suction cup sound and fish on drag spinning. Got my net ready had the fish up to the boat. 6-7lb? Reached for the net andone head shake....

Pulled the hooks out of my skiterwalk. Never thought to check the split ring. Next time I get into a bunch of reds I'll make a point to look at that. Cost me a good one. But we had a good time and the little girl got to catch her a drum/speck/hardhead and flounder.

that's wierd, I finally got the same one, threw it today, and after a while noticed my line would get caught in the ring cause it opened up a little. guess I gotta change mine before that happens!

That sucks.... I've had tuna pull the split rings on poppers, but never had that happen on the inside!

That's what got me this am. Five pound trout and a treble in the finger. Awesome bait but the doctor ruined it.
