Part B if it is shot Sthil or Echo for replacement ?
Most brands have a screen in the exhaust/muffler that will clog and not let it rev up, maybe try cleaning it.

Take the screen completely out and give it a try. Cleaning them doesn't help.

I use stihl weedeaters and chainsaws on the farm and they last a long time and get used alot. I always dump any excess gas back in the can and run the gas in the motor out when finished. We have a chainsaw that has been around for close to 15 years and still running strong

That's the key Bob! Those carbs are so small that it doesn't take much time for the gas to evaporate & varnish over. Always empty the tank & run gas out carbs.

Some small engines have 2 hoses.....I have had to change old hoses after they get a small crack in them. A small crack will cause the engine to not get enough fuel, so it choking helps it to get more gas.

Thumbs up

The dealer loaned me a sthil to use and compare. I am going today and purchase the Echo. It is balanced a lot better. Hope I get the same or better service out of it.
PS: I do not think ethonal fuel is the problem I run ethonal free gas in the boat and power equipment. Pay a few cents more but I feel it is worth it.

if it idles fine....you give it throttle it dies.....then its a fuel to air ratio pick up issue...maybe sucking air somewhere from primer bulb or cracked line. also change your plug...it maybe fouing

As stated, the only way the OP can make it idle is to have it on full choke.

Unfourtantley I needed the service dept. Something happened and it would take 15 to 20 minutes to get running at full speed. They tried to fix it but still gave problems. They swapped it out for a new one. The way I see it it's not if you have a problem ( anything mechinacal can ) it is how the problem is handled. I would purchase from BMC again. Good Experince in a bad situation.
