This is the kinda stuff that worries me. I am dumb as a brick when it comes to electronics. Micah, why does the footage length matter when editing? Will I have easy access to an editing program that is user friendly?

Are you sayin' it won't work with dial-up?

Here is the package I been lookin' at, but, I want to find one that has everything I need (memory card, waterproof case, etc). I was told that there is a specific case I need to get because the one that comes with the camera causes dark patches in the corners.

Footage length matters because you ultimately have to edit it to get something worth watching. I think it would be perfect for quick segments which is what it sounds like you would use it for. My neighbor uses them for filming pool footage for real estate ads.

For some reason I thought I could turn it on when I started a trip and turn it off when I left but it takes a lot of time/processing power to go through an hour + of footage. I feel like start/stop filming is a lot easier with a camcorder but that may just be my personal preference.

Also, your computer makes a big difference in editing capability. I run a Mac and the software is very easy to use. I am sure there are good programs for Windows or Winstons, depending on what you use.
