I towed a trailer back from Florida, thought about the barrel idea. Then I thought what could go wrong with that, coming loose at 70+ mph, I decided to leave it empty. It didn't bounce much at all. Be careful, I would consider the "bolting" of a piece of plywood to your bunks and strap something heavy to it. But strap it very very well...good luck.
