Update
Took the car in about 11 AM Tue. to Ace Automotive on Hwy 171. After talking over the A/C problem he agreeded that it sounded like the compressor had failed. Gave an estimated price. By 3:30 PM that afternoon he called and said it was ready. Final price was a little under his est. We (she) was happy with the service and price [if you can be happy paying $ 1100+]...... and to be riding in a "cooled" car again.
