19 lbs world record weakfish
← March Fish Head Photo Entry – Team Lindsey Beer and fishtails → New IGFA All-Tackle World Record Weakfish! Posted on March 27, 2009 by Jim Freda A new all tackle world record weakfish is now officially in the IGFA record books. The official notification came last week that the record weakfish of 19.12 lbs caught by David Alu of Jackson (photo right) last season on May 6, 2008 did qualify. This monstrous fish was taken from the New York shoreline in Raritan Bay on a bunker chunk. Alu was guided by Rich Swisstack, a hard core surf guide from Shore Catch Guide Service, Manasquan. The fish was caught on a St Croix Legend Surf Rod and a Daiwa Spinning Reel. ![]() |
