![]() Woke up Sunday morning and headed straight out to the same spot at the jetties we picked up our 22 trout the day before and started slinging Logs in the boat every cast. As the morning wore on and got hotter the fish started dropping lower and lower. Finally when we started catching sharks under a cork and trash fish on the bottom we all switched to sliding cork rigs set at 6-8' deep we started hooking into specs again. We were fishing in 14' of water and the trout stayed suspended at 8' the rest of the morning. Finished off our 3 man limit by 10:30 and catch and release till 11:30 then headed in. Caught 4 reds also. We had boats beside us not really doing much and I don't think they knew we were using the sliding corks. Most boats left and headed back up the ship channel while we were steadily slinging them in no matter where we fished on the rocks. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Good job.
Why you bringing all the east side crap over here? Sliding corks are for sacalait fishing ;-) |

Hey,I'm quite confident Norton Sand eels would catch on Lake Pontchartrain also.

Thats nice. I've never fished the sliding cork method but I'd like to try that out some day.
What stops the cork from sliding all the way up? |

Nice catch. Guess I am going to have to try out a sliding cork setup now. Been hesitant but have heard they work well.

Anyway,we did well Saturday using small split shots about 8" above the shrimp. This technique however did not work on Sunday. Also, you need to put a name next to that phone number you got the text from the other day! |

we did not try inside but saw several boats both days fishing the inside. Didn't get a chance to see how they were doing cause I can guarantee you that as soon as you took your eyes off your bait the damn cork would have gone under, haha.

Nahh,I know who he is but I was with ButchR and my friend Terry. Butch has a brother in law who has a very nice camp right off the ship channel where the camp with the Gold roof is. He's a very generous guy who lets us use his camp from time to time. He mainly uses it as a duck camp and has several leases in Hackberry.
I love fishing over there. It's a decent break from the Lake Pontchartrain freak show. I need to learn how to wade fish Big Lake during the spring and fall bad!!!! |
