No they have fish in the gulf. The worst place in the nation is the bay there are fish in the bay about 3 months out the year.

It's not a year round fishery. Those that know it and fish it ONLY when you should be, do great there. I don't even bother going till September thru November. It's easy to catch then. I love going and catching a 3 man limit of 15-18 inch fish in a couple hours. But, the rest of the year i fish elsewhere. You're trying to compare the bay to other waters across the state and it's apple and oranges. The only exception has been during drought years and dry winters up north that the bay was good all year. If Big Lake was a fresh water lake for 8 months it would be a horrible place to catch specks too!

Those people that don't know when to fish it try to go out there in May and catch specks and are disappointed when they scratch.

I love the bay!!

Amen brother..........it is all about the Atchafalaya river staying low so the salinity can rise and stabilize. High river and a East / South East wind = biggest fresh water lake in Louisiana. It is usuall good in those fall/winter months because all of the rain and snow has already come down river.Think about it..........
