Usually you can get out of JD the first time w/ no problem but you will get called again and expect to serve.
Just call the DA and tell them you have a non refundable ticket for a trip.

So if all you guys are sooo quick to get out of serving on a jury then don't whine when the DA can't get convictions. The thugs are making up our jury pools nowadays. /rant.

I concur, I can see in the OP's situation wanting to get out of it but it is our civil duty to be called upon to serve when its time.

I think I'm one of the few who actually want to be on a jury at least once just to see how things work.

I will be ritin my letta today and plan to tell them I will be first inline to volunteer the next round. Actually, I was excited about getting chosen but I have put off making this trip for too many years to blow all of my deposits and not even get picked. Doubt they would ever pick me anyway due to my job (insurance) and High and Tight hurcut.

I just had to listen to a case a few weeks ago where a crack "expert" on the jury convinced the others that the crack found in a guys dresser drawer in his house under his wallet with his drivers license in it wasn't his. Turns out that crack experts don't store entire "cookies" in anything other than tins. So this must have been planted by the police who are the real bad guys nowadays it seems. Sheesh. I don't see how police officers go to work at all anymore.

I got selected to appear on Monday but I had tickets to NASCAR at talladega. I sent a letter and told them I had non refundable tickets to an even. They called me and let me off. Super easy
