Default broken Minn Kota shaft

After returning from a fishing trip I noticed a dark line runing the length my trolling motors shaft. After further investigation it was confirmed it was busted to s#*%t. Has anyone ever tried to fix this same problem themselves? The crack runs about 15 inches down the composite shaft, starting at the screw hole where the handle screws in at.

I thought you only had a two year warranty on MK troll motors.....or is the shaft the only item that is life time?

One Repair shop did not tell me About lifetime warranty. Good thing I called a second repair shop. Happened to me a few years ago glad the second one was honest.

Default Superior Trolling Motors

There is a place on Banks street, next to Gulf Coast boat shop. I think it's Superior trolling Motors. He just repaired my Minn Kota. Great guy for sure. Good luck man.

Yep, lifetime on shaft. Shaft is covered under warranty but labor is not. I had one changed. Cost me $100 for removing old and installing new

I'm getting mine replaced right now too. The sad thing is the shaft is $25 and the hour of labor is $75. At least the shop in Houma only has a 3 day turn around and I should it back for this weekend.

My 18 year old motorguide went out last week and I was going to buy a minn kota.

I went to three trollmotor shops and they told me about minn kota composite shafts and the cheaper motorguides problems. Went ahead and paid a few bucks more for a motorguide with stainless shaft which all three shops advised that was the best bang for the buck. Now finding upper end line in the size I needed was not easy. Motorguide is not as popular as they use to be back in 1990's.

$100 not bad. I bent a few stainless shafts on motorguides and last time I bend one bad was in 1991. It cost me $75 for labor and materials, so the cost to repair them has not gone up that much.
