LDWLF report on 14" slot limit does not work well in Spillway
I been fishing the spillway since the 1970's with my father and hopefully this report will get them to change the regulations. Remember in the 1970's and early 1980's you had good floods and old river locks were damaged from the big flood in 1970's. That gave us some really good years of bass fishing due to good water flow. |

I hope they put a realistic limit where people can go out and enjoy catching bass for recreation fun and if they want to keep a few they can. They got some spots that do have larger fish but nothing Toledo Bend or Indian Creek size.
Have nothing against bass clubs but they were the major group trying to keep these changes in effect. They hey day of the spillway is well over with and about time we go back to old days where you can take a kid and catch a few to get them excited about fishing. 1970's and early 1980's the fishing was alot better. Remember the old river locks were broken due to great flood in 70's and water flowed consistently in the spillway. That made the everything thrive including crawfish which resulted in a better bass class due to you had consistent water going through spillway. Now with the locks repaired unless you get a good flood you are looking at a 30% share of water which some years like a drought year things are not consistent. |
