My dad has a .45-70 and it sure seems to put em down hard. Great deer gun especially for this area where shots are rarely over 100 yds.

I'll be out at my favorite public land spot this weekend with my bow in hand.

Good luck to all those out with the smoke poles!

I live about 4 miles north of Iowa so West Bay is my closest option and where I spend most of my time. I also hunt Thistlewaite and Indian Bayou a few times per year because I like the 4 point rule there and I feel the trophy opportunity is a little higher.

I really want to get on a lease somewhere near the house. My kids are growing up fast and I'd like to have a place to take them where I can set up stands, prepare food plots, and share in the outdoors without having to worry about the rigors of public land hunting. Hopefully I can find something for next year.
