Youth Hunting License Question

I want to take my son deer hunting for youth weekend at Clear Creek WMA this coming Saturady. I know he does not need a license, because he is only six, but does he need a wildlife management stamp and deer tags?

I think you both will need the WMA stamp, he might have to have hunter's safety course also. Not sure about the tags because when you kill and they have mandatory weigh in they tell you to put your tag on it, but they also put a metal tag on it and tell you not to call yours in or the deer will be counted twice. Probably be best to call LDWF Lake Charles office 491-2576

Did this for mine the other day. Go any place that sales licenses and have his social security number, birthday and other personal stuff you should know. They will print him up some deer and turkey tags on the spot. No charge. You might have to show your license.

Hunters safety course not required till a license is required, 16. Surely hope they wouldn't require a 6 year old to sit through those classes. However 10-12 is a good time to take the course.

WMA stamp is only for 18-59yo. Good luck!

You just need to get him some tags which will cost nothing.
