They have oil grade containers and food grade containers.
When I was a kid my buddy wanted to take some extra gas in his dads boat to go to our friends camp. He took a 5 gallon kentwood water jug and filled it with gas and put the cap on. We didn't make it to the afternoon and the gas was eating the plastic.
