![]() Today was a great day to be on the water in Terrebonne Parish. Light winds and zero fog made for a pleasant early morning boat ride. Randall and Bridget Wilson took advantage of my special winter lodging rate(125.00 per night) at the Lakehouse. We got an early start leaving the dock at 5:30 a.m. Capt Gerald Ellender was right behind me with Capts Brady Giroir and Tommy Pellegrin. (Boy they had many years of experience on that boat today) We were looking to whack the yellowmouths and thats exactly what we did along with some nice redfish for lagniappe. The trout were not schooled up like the previous days as the pattern was off a little this morning. However, it didn't matter as we kept plugging away and eventually the fish started cooperating as the tide slowed down by mid morning. Randall & Bridget were a lot of fun to fish with and I sure enjoyed their company. We caught our fish on double rigged LSU chubs and the Highlife 'Big Eye' under a popping cork. Towards the end of the trip the bunker swim baits were doing well as they usually do. The reds were caught on mostly LSU chubs as Randall started it off for us by catching the first 3-4 reds. At one point I had 2 big reds on the double rig before one of the big bruisers broke off. We enjoyed a double hook-up on the reds as a large school passed just 15 yards off the bow of the boat! Bridget held her own with some early action under a cork and finishing up strong with the bunker swim bait as she flipped in number 75 to end the day. It turned out to be another great day of fishing on the DU as both boats combined for 150 trout and 16 reds. One phone call is all it takes if you want to experience a day like we had today. All you have to do is show up and we'll do the rest!! Good luck fishing. Pics when I get back home. Capt Bill Lake 985-851-6015 985-637-3712 |
