Made a short afternoon trip to help a buddy try out some new baits and some new colors. The baits I have been using for a couple of weeks and they r very durable and they have a good action. I have been using the natural color and today we tried the root-beer color with the gold flake and the trout were loving that color also. Today they were used without a popping cork and worked fine. The new shrimp is called the Vudu shrimp and can be found on the Egret bait website. Also got to throw the Kick A Mullet today and found a some nice chunky reds. Ended the day with about 15 to 20 trout which were all released and about 5 to 8 reds which were all released also. Just trying some new colors out and they seem to work well. All fish were caught in the Lake Charles area.
The water was gin clear and was running from 59 to 62 degrees. The tide was outgoing upon our arrival and then switched to incoming and there was a light wind. The Kick-A-Mullet was connected to a Lew’s reel which was on a Calcasieu Xtreame Rod and the Vudu shrimp were connected to the same set up. Also there is a limited supply of the Vudu shrimp now so get them while they last.
