Default Saturday 12/28/12

I have two questions, first is there any place to drop a kayak in for Moss lake? I've been searching the map and with this north wind saturday that looks like a good place to fish. Second is the marsh for Hog Island gulley closed the same as West Cove marsh and are there a lot of duck hunters in the area. It is also a spot I was thinking about trying out but I would wasn't sure on if it was closed or if I would possibly get shot at.

Hog island boat launch is closed until March. The only launch open all year is from the north parking lot of the west cove launches that goes out to the lake. A good place to try with the north wind would be choupigue bayou launch off of hwy 27 south of Sulphur, but I don't know how low the water may get with a hard north wind. Probably should not matter much for a kayak. Last Friday I caught some nice specks off of I-10 beach in Lake Charles. You can probably launch right off of the beach and it should be calm on that end of the lake. Hopefully all of the rain today doesn't mess things up too much. Good luck.

Should be fine, not enough rain unless it floods up north and they fill the lake with fresh water by opening the gates to releive the flooding, look like it moved through quick.

Never fished the beach, that may be a nice place to explore.

To fish the north shore of Lake Charles there is also a launch under the I-10 bridge just past Steam Boat Bills.

You can park at the beach and launch there. You can wade fish there too.
I did good a couple times this year up there fishing the beach.
