Penalty could keep smokers out of health overhaul

I worked for a company several years ago that would fire anyone they found out was a smoker.

Yep, 100 percent. Of course it was a health care organization but still they had 10,000 employees and we all had to sign an affidavit saying we did not smoke and asserted that we would not in the future.

These employees will have to sign an affidavit saying they have not used tobacco in the previous 12 months to not be hit with the extra premium.

If they falsify, it will be considered falsifying company document and they will be subject to discipline including termination.
