Default question for you mechanics

Just replaced powerpack, coil and lamination assembly and timerbase. Motor was running good. Today it was running good but after i shut it off it didnt wanna stay running.vit woukd fire and run but just for a few seconds. My dad told me to take the plug wires off and just barely put them on the plugs. Did that and it fired right up and ran good. He said i need new plugs. He said it makes the powerpack fire hotter/stronger? What makes it do that?

The arc begins to fire to the outside of the plug. You'll see a little grey streak down the outside of the plug. It's arcing to the head instead of to the internal of the plug. If you replace only the plug, the path is already burned into the wire. If you replace only the wire, that grey mark down the side of the plug is metallic and, the path of least resistance. In short, when you pop the plug wire, it interrupts the path. Also, always replace both components during regular maintenance.

Crank it up on a garden hose at night and watch the show (dont touch the blue lights !!!) ...

This is a good way to see where your high voltage electrical "leaks" are at...
