I dont have a cranking battery. Just two duual purpose for the trolling motor. Im just running some led nav lights for a few minutes each morning so not worried about draining one battery.

i was confused at the same situation, but it was explained to me and turns out it is pretty simple, you have the two batteries that are both 12volt, you cross them to make 24volt, but you only have 24volt when you cross them, if you hook up to one battery just like you would to hook up your lights you are still running 12volt, you can hook up to both batteries separately, you still have 12 volts even if you are still hooked up with 24volt
