Only spinning reels I own are for my wife and daughter. Only reason I would throw one was if I was throwing a cork or fishing for brim/sacs. And I don't throw corks or freshwater fish much. Used to be all I fished with when I was a kid. But once I picked up a baitcaster I have never used one again for saltwater fishing. I think the more compact/comfortable design of baitcaster and baitcaster rods makes them the better choice.
