I use 30# on baitcaster and 40-50# on spinning rods. Works well for me.

30 pound braid is good on a baitcaster.....I started using 40 pound and find it does not dig into the spool as bad when you catch a big fish. If your not used to braid on a baitcaster try the sufix 832 braid, handles almost like mono.

I use 20lb Power Pro on every reel i have, baitcaster and spinning. Although my fishing oppertunities are very limited the last few years, it seams to work well for me. I use a mono base on the spools and have never had any issues once i got used to having it on my baitcasters. The first few birdnests are painfull.

i use 20, i find that 30 lb dosnt cast as well for me . that 20lb is so thin and light you can cast a mile with it. i emptied a spool on a core 50 mg with 20 lb braig multiple times casting . 30 lb is compl;eltly unnecessary for inshore fishing. 20 lb = more line = lasts longer from cutting/retie and breakoffs ect . 20 lb poer pro yellow( so i can see the line move ) and a 15-20 ln flurocarbon leader tied directly to power pro with a uni to uni knot

Put this on a Lew's and used it today. Happy with it. Had been using the 842 before and happy with it also

I always try to match up braid diameter with preferred mono diameter, thus 40 lb braid on redfish poles.

Thanks for all of the advice. Bought a Lews and giving the 30# Suffix 832 a try. I can always go back to Power Pro. I tried the PP
slick 8 before and didn't really like it. |

Diawa Samurai braid here. Thinest smoothest line made. Smooth as mono. Its a tad more expensive, but has yet to fail on me and ive tried em all. Same line on my spinning and baitcast for 3 years and not one problem

Suffix 15lb on Spinning and Suffix 20lb on Casting and always 20lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon tied on with a Uni Knot. Just bought some of the new Suffix 832 to give it a try.

I think it's worth the extra money I don't think it can get closer to mono than this. One thing I learned with any braid is even the fumes from gas will make it weaker, and it will pop setting the hook on bigger fish, so be careful where you set your rods if you have an exposed gas tank.
