With senior year starting in a few months it's time to start applying.. I believe ill enjoy the Nicholls Pretroleum Service program they have. I do want to eventually progress to a supervisor level, but as many keep saying, that doesn't happen anymore like it used to without the 4 year degree. Real world is slowly setting in |

These next few years will probably some of the best in your life. Don't rush through them or you may regret it.

The plant I work at, all no experience operators start out on the labor crew making $13 an hour basically driving a fork lift and picking up trash. No telling for long, you just bid on d operator jobs as they become available. Doing what I do as an engineer, I spend about half my time in the office and other half in the field. Its great, too much office drives me crazy.

Mcneese no longer offers new students process tech. degree. If you are in it right now you can finish up, but not offered to incoming freshman!

My thoughts exactly. College life is a buffer between being a kid and being an adult. It was the best time of my life. Broke as hell, but everybody else was too. It taught me what a few others here have already said.....Money doesn't equal happiness. I recommend anyone with the scholastic aptitude to pursue a 4 year degree. If you wanna be an operator in a plant with an engineering degree, you can, but if you want to, you could also do other things......don't unnecessarily pigeon-hole yourself.

Better to live the broke college life for 4 years and make up for it with that 4 year degree, it will pay for itself in the long run. Bust your butt for 4 years and make contacts and you can also get an internship as well once you get up the road a little bit. Some places offer student employment as well. Best thing would be to get a little lawnmowing side gig for the weekends/afternoons and that will allow you to at least buy good beer
![]() If you go the engineering route, you will probably be bound to the books for a good while as its a difficult curriculum. I failed out of my first attempt at college due to duck hunting and what I would do to have that year back. oh, and you will have a meal card and the food is usually pretty good, so you don't really have many expenses other than extracurricular activities |

Well, I went ahead and scheduled a tour for Nicholls.
There is another school in Lafayette though that does the same thing for 7/7 working. I found this out last night from my dad, being my Grandpa helped set this school up. We couldn't think of the name though. Anybody? |
