Default Redfish Rockafella

Took pops fishing this morning at the rock, launched around 6:30 this morning, right before 9:00 we were each hooked up at the same time, after landing both fish we counted 1 flouder and 8 reds in the box so we put one on ice and i released the one i caught that was the biggest so far (around 24") so we could keep fishing, around 10ish i caught the last one, so we headed to the mouth to see about hooking into some big bullreds, caught one big bull on half a crab, got to the house figured out we miss counted, still a good day, had a few misses and a couple small throw backs, felt good to have something tugging on my line

Good catch. I being from north La. Do occasionally fish around the Big Lake. I was unaware there is a boat launch in Rockefeller. Where is it located? I would appreciate any advice.

Boat launch is at joseph's harbor just east of price lake road, just past the refuge headquarters

Not sure if the shrimp are running, did see a couple shrimp jumping in the canals though, only threw the net a couple of times, and there were WAAAAY to many people out there for me to go on any of the dams, all the da/ms were looking like they were filming a brad paisley music video, "bring your johnson your mercury or your evinrude"

thinking of making a crab run this week. any chance you can give me a general area of where you caught your reds? I know where "the mouth" is, but wondering about where you caught the smaller reds. Might do that after crabbing. thx

Default all

man we caught them all over the place, all you need to do is tie on a jig head and put on a shrimp, or we normally use cacahoes but the water was dirty all over the place, cast to the bank and drag or bounce your bait
