Shorter length is not necessary for kayaks. I use 7' mostly. If you can develop a rod that floats then I think you would be on to something!

Second thought, if you can make a rod that increases casting distance while sitting down...that would be a good selling point.

Jude, anyway to in-fuse some He-Le-Um into a blank to keep it bouyant?
