Headknocker BL Saturday

Buddies from N La came down and we had a good time Friday night, so got to Big Lake around 9:30 am with bags full of Cormies fried chicken and a precooled Yeti full of groceries set to fish all day Water was slick calm and bait was popping. The stars were aligning and visions of grandeur were in our heads. Caught 2 nice trout in no time and tried to troll over to some bait and nothing was happening. Trolling motor was not moving. Pulled it up and the entire propellor assembly was GONE! The nut came loose and it is all at the bottom of Big Lake. After several minutes of cursing and realizing we were going to have to get this fixed or else we would be wasting time, we decided to head back and find the part. 2 hours later we got the parts and got back on the lake. The wind was whipping at this point and a nice little thunderstorm was right behind. Finally the winds calmed for an hour and we picked up some nice fish before calling it a day. All on sparkle beetles. Bout half were females with eggs

I always keep a spare prop ( both troll motor and gas motor) with all necessary parts on board. I'd hate to ruin a fishing trip over a $30 troll motor prop.

If I had a spare one of everything that breaks when these guys come down to fish, I would have to tow a 10' trailer
