Roustabout Jobs - Blake International?
If anyone has an ideas for a roustabout position offshore please keep him in mind. He's 21, drug free and very dependable. He graduated from an automotive tech program and is good with his hands. He has just always wanted to work offshore and so he is looking for a way to get started. Thanks. , Dan |

blake has very old rigs. good to get his foot in the door. I know a lot of service companies use places like lofton staffing to recruit for open positions. Might want to look at something like that, that way he might be able to kind of shop around for something he might like. Service, at least I think, is the way to go out there.

With the automotive schooling he may also want to check out working on a workboat. Edison Chouest is one of the bigger ones....http://www.chouest.com/careers.html

put in resumes with all the big boys. they all have new ships coming to the gulf and roustabout turnover has been pretty good lately. even if they dont have positions posted they probably have some open. some people like the smaller jackups but the nicer equipment and bigger paychecks are in deepwater

He did work out in the gulf doing oil cleanup after the BP spill, but it was just for a couple of months. He did hit some rough water but I don't think he got sick.

Seadrill, Maersk, Transocean, Noble, Rowan, Ocean Rig, Vantage and a few more all have new rigs coming to the gulf. Fill out apps for all of em and see who bites first

If I had it to do all over again I'd get on a push boat.
My Cousn in Law is a boat captain works 21-14. He pushes one barge from TX to GA. Makes 150,000 year. If he's drug free, has a pulse and can show up to work on time and stay on the boat. He can make 85,000 within a year. 150,000 after 3 or 4 depending on what license he can obtain. |

Yeah you right. Normally a Captain, A Mate, engineer, and 2 deck hands on board and sometime a tankerman so your chance of getting on a lifeboat are pretty good. |

We built probably 20 100'+ 5,000 HP river tugs in the last 6 years or so. They are nice, they can change the oil in the engines while they running just by turning a few valves. These are some bigger boats that push coal barges on the Northern Part of the MS River. They have a full Commercail Kitchen, Engineer has an office with a window the engine room where he can see what's going on in the engine room. Each quarter has it's own shower toilet and sink. Captain has his own room on the level right below the wheel house. Ice box in the wheel house with a coffee pot and a ****ter 3 steps from it. The only crew members that have to share a room are the DH's. They put 2 to a room but one works night watch and the other works day watch. They have their own cook. The only exercise equipment they have is a bike and a treadmill. I have seen one boat come back that had a weight bench on the roof.

What are some of the push boat companies here in Louisiana. He would probably also consider other areas in the gulf but I have not asked him yet.

Settoon Towing
Enterprise Marine LeBouef Brothers Towing Cenac Towing Crosby Marine Caiilou Island Towing Delta Towing Marquette Gulf Inland That's all I can thing of off the top of my head. Gooh sells rope I'm sure he knows more. Another Option is a lift boat companie. The drive to a rig, stay anywheres from 3 days to 3 months. Basically a hotel on water.
